Welcome to Cochrane, Alberta

Nestled in the heart of Alberta’s stunning foothills, Cochrane offers a unique blend of rich history and breathtaking landscapes. Long before it became a hub for ranchers and settlers in the late 19th century, this land was home to Indigenous peoples, whose deep connection to the land continues to shape the region’s cultural fabric. Cochrane sits on Treaty Seven land, home of the Iyethka peoples of the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Goodstoney Bands; the Tsuut’ina; the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) peoples of Siksika, Piikani and Kainai Bands. Today, the town’s heritage is a tapestry woven from these ancient traditions and pioneer spirit, with well-preserved buildings and a welcoming community offering visitors a journey through time.
