Cochrane spring activities to get you buzzing

The trees are budding, the birds are singing, and it’s time to wake up from hibernation with the best spring activities Cochrane has to offer. Take advantage of your April long weekend with Easter activities the whole family will be excited about. The town has everything from Easter activities for kids to romantic getaways that are sure to put a spring in your step.

Here are three spring activities you should hop on over to this month.

1. Shop at the seasonal markets

Fill your basket at the Easter Pop-Up Market with fun Easter activities for kids. See how many eggs you can find at the Easter Egg Hunt, and discover new local vendors who create unique handmade goods. Find your new favourite fresh and tasty treats, handcrafted jewelry, bath and body products, and more. Mark your calendar for April 16.

That’s not all, yolks! Have an egg-cellent day of spring activities at the Cochrane Spring Farmers Market on April 23. A local hotspot, this market showcases everything from delicious sweet and savoury delicacies to expertly made gifts and accessories. The market is hosted indoors, so you don’t have to worry about April showers ruining your shopping day.

2. Welcome spring with the wolfdogs

If you’re not into the Easter Bunny, spend your long weekend with a different kind of animal! From April 15 to 18, get in the spring spirit with the dogs of Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary and their Easter activities

Cheer on Eska the wolfdog as she hunts for Easter eggs in her enclosure, and watch as the Numa Pack problem-solves their way to the treats inside a paper mache egg. Be wowed by the incredible scent-sniffing skills of the Grotto Pack as they investigate spring inspired snacks, and don’t miss out on meeting the beautiful Mawko, a wolfdog who loves to greet visitors and lead pack howls.

These Enrichment Activities are included with admission for the Sanctuary Walk, Intro Tour, or Interactive Tour, so you can spend lots of time with these beautiful creatures and learn about their lives.

3. Treat yourself to a spring getaway

The most relaxing retreat is right in your own backyard at The Crossing at Ghost Rivers Goat, Ghost, Wine and Cheese event. From April 23 to 24, bask in the quietude of the Alberta countryside and spend a luxurious evening at The Crossing, where you’ll experience exceptional bed-and-breakfast style service and chef-inspired meals. Unwind with a walk in the solitude of the surrounding woods, or lounge at the beautiful riverfront on the property before turning in for the night at your charming and cozy accommodations.

The next day, learn the secrets of goat cheesemaking and taste-test mouth watering handmade cheese paired with expertly selected wines at Early Dawn Farms. You’ll create your own delicious goat cheese samples to take home, and learn basic wine and cheese pairing skills. You’ll also have the opportunity to tour the property and meet the adorable goats who call the farm home. You won’t want to miss these photo opportunities!
