Cycling at Glenbow Ranch

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park

Enjoy stunning vistas, rolling hills, and spot the occasional cowboy as you explore nearly 40 kms of paved and shale pathways at Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park.  The gorgeous Bowbend Trail is a ribbon of pavement that meanders along the Bow River in between Cochrane and Calgary.   It is part of The Great Trail Network, which crosses the country from coast to coast. And, although there are countless kilometers of beautiful pathways that are part of this “great” network, not many can match the idyllic charm of the Bowbend Trail.  Popular with hikers and bikers alike, the 4.6 kms Bowbend Trail slices through the heart of Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. It winds along arid coulees, through aspen glades, beside historic ranching ruins, and makes for an awesome little adventure for everyone.

Glenbow Ranch is an ideal place to take a quick spin on your road or mountain bike. (Fat biking, even on the coldest winter days when snow and ice are par for the course, is also popular).  For more information on all the trails including a map, click here

Before or after your morning ride, the Texas Gate offers a great breakfast and a charming place to hang out with your cycling friends or family.  This 116-year-old beauty is known as the “Heart of Cochrane”, located right in the centre of Historic Downtown.
