Day Trip to Cochrane

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mountains. Prairies. Foothills. A historic main street. The town of Cochrane has it all and then some. If you see a lineup on the main street, you’re in the right place for starting to explore the town that is home to one of Alberta’s most famous ice cream shops – MacKays. But that’s just the beginning of what this historic ranching town offers, just 30 minutes from Calgary. Pop into Cochrane Coffee Traders for a local taste of in-house roasted and brewed specialty coffees. Then browse the hundreds of retro candies and Canadiana gifts at Horse Creek Candy around the corner. Another must-stop spot is the 100-year-old Rockyview Hotel and Texas Gate Saloon for some delicious Western style food. Time it right for a chance to listen to live music or stay in one its themed hotel rooms.  Round out your visit by popping into the Half Hitch Brewery for a local craft beer or a tour and tasting of Cochrane’s only distillery, Krang Spirits.  If you get there early enough, from one of Cochrane’s hillside pathways, you’ll get an amazing big sky and mountain view. This is an Alberta view you can’t miss. Even if it means setting your smart phone for a wake-up call waaaay before you normally would.   A great adventure on a day trip to Cochrane!
