Cochrane Labour Day Parade

Everybody loves a parade!   The Cochrane Labour Day Parade never disappoints with thousands of spectators lining the streets to enjoy the show.  Rain or shine, you can not dampen the spirits of the participants or the spectators.  Even before the action commences,  at 10 am the party gets into full swing with a pancake breakfast and entertainers to warm up the crowd.

On average, 70 floats dot the parade route including the parade marshals, marching bands and local businesses.  There are always lots of horses representing the ranching community and you will also see horse-drawn wagons, princesses, action heroes and clowns to entertain the families that line the streets in Cochrane’s Historic Downtown.

For over 50 years, community non-profit and athletic groups celebrate on the long weekend by taking part inf the Cochrane Parade.  Many businesses hand out candy and trinkets, rewarding the children attending the parade.

The Cochrane Labour Day Parade started in 1968 by members of the community, and even today the members of the community are the main engine that propels the parade.  It is a total community event which in part makes the Cochrane Labour Day Parade unique.
