Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery

The moment you step inside Cochrane’s newest gallery, you know you have found something special: an airy, light-filled space that provides a base for local artists and a visual arts shopping and viewing experience for the community.

A place for all Local Artist

With the need for more collaboration between artists and to showcase art in the community, the notion of an artist-run collective of a multi-discipline gallery was hatched. The concept brought together local artists and operates on a volunteer basis.   We spoke recently with the gallery’s director to learn more about this collective, opened to the public in June 2020. There are more than 40 member artists in the Route 22 collective. The Collective is for all forms of art. The gallery displays change on a monthly basis, featuring juried art for sale including paintings, sculptures, photography, woodworking, stained glass and more. There is also a gift shop where smaller items, prints and cards created by the artists are showcased and sold.

What’s next

Next up? Not one to rest on their laurels, plans are underway to develop educational art programming for the membership and the community.  Drop by anytime to meet the artists who volunteer to run the gallery. You will feel the creativity and the spark of spirit that comes from this bold new venture.
