Spring Hill RV Park: your basecamp for Cochrane adventure

Tucked between wide-open prairie skies and jaw-dropping mountain views, Cochrane is a small town with a big personality located 20 minutes from Calgary. It’s a friendly place with just the right blend of Western charm and modern amenities. It’s also one of the best spots for RV camping close to Calgary.

Spring Hill RV Park is perfect for those travelling as a couple, bringing the kids, or adventuring solo. It’s a convenient and welcoming full-service campground to make your home base. This Cochrane RV park offers easy access to both the mountains and Historic Downtown Cochrane, so you’ll get the best of both nature and small town life during your stay.

Spring Hill RV Park amenities

Spring Hill RV Park takes camping seriously. It was selected as a top-rated campground by RV Life Campgrounds in May 2025, and it’s easy to see why.

This pet-friendly Cochrane RV park is a destination all on its own, with a catch-and-release trout pond, large playground for the kids, and full-service convenience store. Every campsite has fire pits and picnic tables, so you can eat dinner in the fresh air and enjoy s’mores afterward. There’s even a hall available for rent if you’re hosting an event.

Spring Hill RV Park also has a gas station and liquor store on-site, plus free Wi-Fi — although with so much outdoor fun to be had, we don’t think you’ll need it! And for those who like to stay fresh while camping, there are coin-operated showers and laundry machines available.

Traveller review: 2-night stay

“We had vehicle problems and did not plan on staying here. We found the staff was amazing and got us in with no reservations. The play park is amazing! We could not get our daughter off of it, and we also loved the fish pond with floating dock. Very clean washrooms and laundry. We will most definitely be back.” -Summerhays

A big, colourful playground sits on gravel, with green grass around, and campsites in the background. The sky is a brilliant blue, and the sun is drenching everything in warmth.

Where to eat in and around Cochrane

Cochrane has a wide range of restaurants and cafes to try. To keep things simple, here are four of our favourite spots.

1. Farmers’ Leaf Market & Cafe

This cafe is owned by woman entrepreneur-duo Christina and Elisa, who met serendipitously when they both moved to Cochrane to live out the acreage dream. Here, you’ll find hearty soups and sandwiches, plus freeze-dried snacks for takeaway — perfect for your next outdoor adventure.

2. Fence & Post

Located in the heart of Historic Downtown Cochrane, Fence & Post is a casual upscale restaurant with a focus on premium local ingredients. Must-try menu items include the garlic balloon appetizer, the wedge salad, the smash burger, and the Elk Osso Bucco. If you’re in town on the weekend, don’t miss their weekend brunch!

3. Paradise Pines Bar and Grill

Instead of heading into Cochrane for food, you can also drive north on Highway 22 to Water Valley, where you’ll find this golf course restaurant with great views. Whether you’re here for a laid-back lunch, their popular Sunday brunch, or authentic Mexican night on Saturdays, Paradise Pines is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to — golf clubs or not.

4. Fallentimber Meadery

Just looking for drinks? For a truly local tasting experience, head north on Highway 22 to this family-run spot. They’re known for crafting innovative meads using honey from their own hives — something they’ve been perfecting for generations. Stop in for a tasting, book a tour to learn how mead is made, and stock up on unique beverages like the Meadjito (our personal favourite for a sunny day).

Two men sit in a cozy restaurant. There are a few plates of food between them. Charcuterie, nice salads, and hearty burgers.

Local shops you won’t want to miss

If you’re craving a bit more of an urban feel to your camping trip, spend an afternoon browsing the shops in Historic Downtown Cochrane. This lovely, walkable shopping district is full of locally-owned boutiques offering everything from gifts to home decor to clothing.

And, if you’re in town on Saturday between June and October, don’t miss the Cochrane Farmers’ Market by the Bow River. It’s located in the parking lot at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

A display of beautiful fruit at a farmers market table. Grapes, apples, and pears, of a few varieties each.
