National Beverage Day

The Texas Gate has been serving beverages for over 100 years!  Built-in 1904, it is one of Cochrane’s few remaining original buildings and just about the oldest operational hotel in western Canada.  Serving as the local watering hole, she put away her dance hall clothes and became a proper teahouse during the prohibition years. She also had the distinction, back in the 1950s, of being the first Alberta bar where men and women could co-mingle!!  According to National Today, “National Beverage day falls on May 6 and we couldn’t be more excited. The day encourages us to sit back, relax, and enjoy our favourite beverages. Beverages come in many forms. And whether you prefer a hold or a cold one, the good news is, there is one for every taste.”
