Behind the Scenes Tour: Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary

August 19, 2023 @ 12:45 pm - 2:30 pm

$150

Calling all animal enthusiasts! Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at the Sanctuary, what it takes to take care of the wolfdogs, or what a day in the life of an animal care attendant looks like? Well we have a limited time offering that will take you around the unseen portions of the Sanctuary and allow you to interact with the Sanctuary in a new way. From navigating our network of alleyways, checking out our nutrition building, saying hello to wolfdogs and even feeding a pack yourself, this limited time fundraiser tour will show you a whole other world of Yamnuska!

This is a semi-private tour with a 8 person capacity per session. This is a walking and standing tour, with an age limit of 15 years and older.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

– Access to the Wolfdog Nutrition building

– Behind the scenes walk through of alleyways that border the Yamnuska, Cascade, Engadine, Castle, Sarrail and Galatea enclosures.

– Meet and Greet with Yamnuska Pack and potential meet and Greet with Mawko

– Help us feed our Engadine enclosure

– Feeding demonstration and close up visit with our Fortress Pack (behind the barrier)

– Check out the Elpoca pack

– Visit with Sanctuary Goats, Sheep, Donkey and dogs, Sybie and Yeti

– Education and learning opportunities throughout the tour

Tour time will range between 1.5-2 hours. The Sanctuary Walk is available before and after your tour as well!

This is an educational tour that will give you an experiential learning opportunity to better understand the ins and outs of the Sanctuary, and what is not commonly seen by the public. From what and how we feed the wolfdogs, our animal care routines, the network of alleyways, to how we interact with the animals, you’ll be able to grasp the magnitude of what we do at the Sanctuary!

A guide will be touring you around the facility, and will be available for any questions you may have! Additionally, there will be interactive components where you will get to go inside the Yamnuska Enclosure, toss food to our Engadine pack, choose what we feed our animals that tour, and even potentially meet Mawko, one of our low content wolfdogs.

The guide has the right to make any adjustments or changes to the program if the wolfdogs are not comfortable. ie. reducing the time spent in an area or moving to a different enclosure. Please note, that we do not force any of our animals to interact if they do not want to, and therefore the meeting with Mawko is dependent on her willingness to visit that day.
