The Links of GlenEagles
After playing fifteen spectacular holes at The Links of GlenEagles – it’s situated high on a bluff above Cochrane – I arrive on the 16th tee. I’m mesmerized. With the snow-dusted Rockies in the distance – the serpentine Bow River and miles of rolling ranchland in between – the view from this dramatic downhill par-3 is about as sweet as it gets. And, unquestionably, this hole, a signature statement on the course, is one of Alberta’s very best. But, parading along the aerie bluffs with gorgeous vistas throughout, GlenEagles is far from a one-hit wonder. The course is chock-full of stunning holes. And, when you also factor in the charming 9-hole Cochrane Golf Club, it’s easy to see why thousands of discerning golfers make the trip to Cochrane every year for a rich and rewarding golfing experience.
Cochrane Golf Club
While The Links of GlenEagles is the flagship championship course in town, the friendly Cochrane Golf Club should not be overlooked. “This facility is all about making golf accessible and fun,” says General Manager, Brad Walz. “We’ve got a sporty 9-hole course that’s walk-able and great for any skill level. The locals love this place and we are seeing more and more people visit from out of town.” Mini Golf will be open in the future, but for now, you can enjoy our 9 hole golf course, which is family and dog friendly!
Plenty of options for everyone!
Looking for an “excuse” to come play a weekly round in Cochrane? Both courses in town offer plenty of options when it comes to league play, promotions, discount cards, ladies’ nights, men’s nights, and so on. Like to wine and dine and shoot nine? That works too! Although both courses offer memberships, you won’t find a stuffy country club atmosphere at either course. They are friendly and inviting golf facilities that welcome everyone!
An Alberta golf experience
True, there are many options for Calgarians when it comes to exceptional golf outside of the city. Granted, you can travel an hour-and-a-half west and play the pricey mountain courses Alberta is famous for. Or, you can travel just a few minutes west, save both time and money, and play golf holes that are every bit as good. Throw in those iconic rolling ranchland views (and maybe a birdie on the 16th hole?) and you’ve got a quintessential Alberta golf experience!
